How to Make Suspicious Stew in Minecraft

Mushroom stews are a pretty good food item in Minecraft. They’re not as great as meat or golden apples, but they can fill up your hunger bars quickly, and they’ll leave you off with a bowl. But what could make them better? What if they had some extra effects that would make them even better or much worse? That’s where suspicious stews come into play. Here’s how to make Suspicious Stew in Minecraft, as well as all the effects these can have.

What Is Suspicious Stew in Minecraft

A Suspicious Stew is a food item that was added in the 1.14 Minecraft Update. These have varying effects, from Regeneration to Blindness and everything in between. But, if you’re feeling risky, you can find and consume these at random instead of crafting specific ones.

Where Can You Find a Suspicious Stew in Minecraft

Consuming Suspicious Stews

Suspicious Stews are a common Shipwreck chest loot. They’ll also be added in the upcoming 1.20 Update (as of May 2023) as chest loot in Desert Wells. But, the issue with these is that you don’t know what effect they’ll give you. You might end up stranded in the sea with the Poison effect

So, you should craft your desired Suspicious Stew instead. Or, you can even trade with a Farmer long enough until you get the option to get a Suspicious Stew for some Emeralds.

How to Craft a Suspicious Stew in Minecraft

Suspicious Stew Recipe

To craft a Suspicious Stew in Minecraft, you’ll need to use the recipe above, which requires the following items:

  • 1 Bowl
  • 1 Red Mushroom
  • 1 Brown Mushroom
  • 1 Flower (Any)

Getting all of these materials is fairly easy. You can also craft your desired Suspicious Stew by feeding a brown mooshroom a specific flower and milking it using a bowl. But, finding a brown mooshroom is incredibly difficult, as they don’t spawn naturally. They only spawn when a red mooshroom is hit by lightning.

So, just use the recipes I mention below to get the Suspicious Stew you want.

What Are the Different Effects a Suspicious Stew Can Have

Depending on the flower you use in the recipe, you’ll get a Suspicious Stew with a different status effect. Here’s the list of all the effects according to the flower used:

  • Azure Bluet: Blindness for 8 seconds
  • Allium: Fire Resistance for 4 seconds
  • Cornflower: Jump Boost for 6 seconds
  • Poppy: Night Vision for 5 seconds
  • Lily of the Valley: Poison for 12 seconds
  • Oxeye Daisy: Regeneration for 8 seconds
  • Blue Orchid or Dandelion: Saturation for 0.35 seconds
  • Tulips: Weakness for 9 seconds
  • Wither Rose: Wither for 8 seconds

Unfortunately, you can’t have more than 1 effect per stew, so you’ll have to consume multiple ones to get all your desired effects.

Conclusion

And that’s how you can make a Suspicious Stew in Minecraft. These can be a game changer when you’re exploring very far away from your base. They also act as an alternative to potions, so you won’t need to make a brewing stand. What’s your favorite Suspicious Stew? Let us know over on the Minecraft Forum!
